CLASSICAL music is returning to Ayr Town Hall this Christmas and New Year with professional BBC and Scottish Opera orchestras.

Ayr Arts Guild, after a gap of two and a half years, has arranged their return to Ayr Town Hall, with support from Destination South Ayrshire.  

The 34th annual Ayr Concert Series consists of four classical music concerts.

Two will be performed by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and one each by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and The Orchestra of Scottish Opera.  

On Thursday, December 22, the BBC SSO brings Christmas Classics 2022 with conductor Roderick Dunk and presenter Jamie MacDougall, tenor.

On Wednesday, January 4, the SCO brings Viennese New Year with conductor Joseph Swensen and the brilliant German violin soloist Kolja Blacher.

The BBC SSO plays music by Schubert and Prokofiev on Friday 20 January conducted by Teresa Riveiro Bohm with violin soloist Rosanne Philippens, and the Scottish Opera Orchestra plays music by Nielsen and Sibelius on Saturday, February 25, conducted by Anu Tali with flute soloist Eilidh Gillespie.
