Ayr’s bingo hall could be set to shut with the company currently in talks with the landlord over its future in the iconic building.
Mecca Bingo confirmed last week that the company has been in talks over the future of the venue at The Playhouse building after concern was raised by staff that they could be out of jobs by Christmas.
The Advertiser was told by one worker at the bingo hall– which also hosts live entertainment and slot machines – that Mecca staff were informed they could possibly out around December.
Mecca Bingo stated no decision has been confirmed but they were in discussion with the landlord on the Boswell Park building’s future.
Mecca Bingo operations director John Dyson said: “We’re currently in conversations with the landlord regarding the future of our Mecca Bingo venue in Ayr.
“Nothing has been confirmed as yet, but we’ll let our teams and our guests know as soon as we have an update.”
Owned by the Rank Group Plc, Mecca Bingo is one of the largest Bingo and Slots operators across the whole of the UK.
