ONE of Ayrshire's best-known charities is getting set to hit the streets this weekend - and there's still time for you to join in.
The Ayrshire Hospice charity's Shining Star Memory Walk will see people of all ages walk together in Ayr in memory of loved ones.
The walk begins at 8pm on Saturday, August 27 and finishes at 1am on Sunday.
There are three different distances to cover, depending on the age and fitness level of the walker - all starting and finishing at Ayr Racecourse, and all suitable for families.
The Pluto Plod covers a distance of four miles, while the Saturn Stomp is over nine miles.
The full 13-mile walk is called the Jupiter Jaunt.
All three routes will have marshals and refreshment stops en route, as well as first aid and support vehicles on hand to help where reqeuired.
Registration costs £15 for adults, £10 for children aged 8-15, and £7.50 for children aged 7 and under, and includes expenses, a T-shird, water, fruit and snack as well as a certificate and commemorative medal on completion of the course.
Participants are asked to note that it will not be possible to register on the night and that everyone taking part must have an official sponsor form.
Running or jogging is not allowed, and for safety reasons pets are not permitted to take part.
It's hoped that everyone taking part will try to raise a minimum of £100 for the charity.
An Ayrshire Hospice spokesperson said: "The sponsor money you raise will allow us to continue to provide specialist palliative care and services to people affected by life-limiting illness across Ayrshire."
