ALMOST £25,000 has been raised to help people with cancer in Ayrshire at a charity fund-raising event.
Ayrshire Cancer Support held a black-tie dinner and clay shoot at Trump Turnberry to raise money for the next phase of refurbishment work at the organisation's new cancer support centre in Ayr.
The event was held in partnership with Nolan Wealth Management and will help torwards the completion of a new centre for children, young people and adults affected by cancer wherever in Ayrshire they live.
Nicola George, head of fund-raising at Ayrshire Cancer Support said, "We would like to thank Gary Nolan of Nolan Wealth Management as without him, this event would not have been possible.
"His commitment, effort and dedication led to the immense success of this event resulting in a staggering profit of £24,097.
"On behalf of everyone affected by cancer in Ayrshire, this financial contribution will make a huge difference to many lives.
"Ayrshire Cancer Support has a very large remit and delivers over 23,000 supported appointments through our free patient transport, counselling and drop ins in a normal year, but we are a very small team.
"We need to generate £2,700 every day just to keep our free services running – it would be impossible to help so many people without support from businesses like Nolan Wealth Management.”
"Now we need to raise sufficient funds to undertake phase three of the refurbishment work at our new centre, which will see a bespoke area for children and young people as well as all the facilities our current Kilmarnock centre hosts – counselling rooms, a drop in centre, and treatment rooms.
"We are honoured that Nolan Wealth Management is helping us."
Gary Nolan, of Nolan Wealth Management, said, "Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer and we have all been to charity balls and dinners to raise much needed funds for cancer charities.
"Every penny of the profit is going to Ayrshire Cancer Support to help with the new cancer centre in Ayr that is under construction.
"Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who attended and made such generous contributions to the event; both by taking part and also digging deep with such strong bidding on the auction lots.
"None of this could have happened without the fantastic support of all the donors, the sponsors, the exhibitors, the hotel, the ladies at ACS and finally Andrew Case of Case Sport for providing such a great day of clay shooting, which was a challenge on a very sunny warm day."
