An elderly man was left "shaken up" after he was assaulted and robbed when walking down a road in Ayr last week.
Around 7.45pm on Thursday, December 16, the 71-year-old man was walking on Viewfield Road, near to Nelson Place, when he was assaulted and robbed of a two-figure sum of cash.
Following the crime, the man was helped by a female dog walker who cops are now trying to trace - alongside anyone else who was in the area at the time and may be able to provide more information.
The suspects are only described as wearing dark clothing.
Detective Constable Stuart McCulloch, from Ayr CID, said: “The man sustained minor injuries however has been shaken up by this incident. Nobody should fear going for a walk and therefore it is vital we trace those responsible.
“We’re appealing to anyone who was in the Viewfield Road area at the time and witnessed anything suspicious to please come forward.
“We are also keen to trace a female dog walker who assisted the man after the incident. If this was you, please come forward as you may have information that can help us.”
