An outage at Virgin Media has left customers up and down the UK frustrated this morning as they can no longer access their TV channels.

According to the website Downdetector there have been almost 20,000 reports of people unable to acces their service since around 10.45am this morning.

The companies own website has also crashed this morning.

One Twitter user complained shortly after 11am: "@virginmedia virgin tv down in Ayrshire Scotland. Your website for outages doesn’t even load."

Another said: "@virginmedia @Virgin #virginbox Why did my tv just stop working and 'this channel is currently unavailable' etc is on all channels? On my day off as well, and trying to rest here."

Virgin Media has tweeted to let the public know that they are aware of the issue and are trying to fix it.
