In 2021 nine grassland areas within Ayr and Prestwick were selected by South Ayrshire Council Grounds Maintenance Team to develop as either a perennial meadow, an annual meadow or to have an altered maintenance with a feature cut.
The purpose of this scheme is to improve local biodiversity and to create a more visually appealing and diverse range of habitats.
The nine grassland pilot sites selected are: Hayhill, the Oval (Prestwick), Castlehill Estate, Kingsmeadow Estate, Ardfin Road Play Area, North-West of Millennium Bridge, Glenalla Cresent, Glenmuir Place, and Castle Walk/Greenan Road. More detail of these sites can be found on the South Ayrshire Council Website.
If you have noticed these sites whilst out and about over the Summer months you can complete an online survey form. This survey period runs from Monday, November 15, 2021 until Sunday, November 28.
