Train passengers in Ayr are being offered the chance to enjoy Christmas in the city for less than the price of a cup of coffee this festive season.
Following ScotRail's launch of two new advance fares, whether it’s for Christmas shopping, lunches, or even a night out, customers can now travel to Glasgow from £3 – less than the price of a gingerbread latte.
Rail bosses said the new advance single fares between Ayr and Glasgow Central provide customers with a saving of up to 70 per cent compared to an anytime day single ticket, and are available to book now, with travel from December 12 onwards.
The tickets are valid with Kids for a Quid too, meaning the whole family can enjoy a day out in the city this Christmas for less.
Lesley Kane, ScotRail commercial director, said: “The lead up to Christmas can be difficult with a lot of people feeling the pinch, which is why we’ve introduced these new Advance fares in time for the festive period, so customers can head into the city for less than a price of a coffee.
“Whether they are heading to the Christmas markets with their family, a night out, or just picking up presents, we hope these new fares will provide customers with excellent value for money and help everyone make the most of the railway over the festive period, and beyond.”
Available all year round, tickets can be purchased up to 12 weeks before travel. A limited number of tickets will be available for each fare, so customers who are able to book in advance will receive the biggest discount.
Customers can buy their tickets from any of the usual ScotRail retail channels, including downloading an mTicket to the ScotRail app.
