Motorists in South Ayrshire have been warned that there could be delays on the A77 this week as road works are being conducted and their route could be blocked.
Work on the A77 in Maybole started today (May 17) and will continue until this Thursday (May 20).
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South West Trunk Road Unit, say that they are undertaking essential maintenance to the road.
They say the work, which will cost £40,000, will improve the condition of the carriageway and reduce the need for more extensive maintenance in future.
Drivers should be fine travelling along the road throughout the day, it’s after 8pm when they could find themselves stuck. The scheme will take place overnight between 8pm and 6am each night and during these times a convoy system will be in operation.
The road will re-open as normal outwith these times.
An Amey spokesperson said: “Our operatives will follow strict physical distancing and hygiene protocols throughout the programme, in line with the Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance.”
