Parts of East and South Ayrshire could be set for another bout of snow and ice say Met Office meterologists as the area was placed in a warning zone.

The Met office issued a yellow warning for the wintry weather, which comes into effect from 6pm this evening until 2pm tomorrow.

They warn of: "Some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, some injuries from slips and falls on icy surface, and some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services."

Temperatures in Cumnock are set to go as low as -2 degrees celsius this afternoon and down to -3 overnight. More rural locations could see temperatures of -6.

Ayr will remain warmer with temperatures getting up to 4 degrees celsius this afternoon before dropping down to -1 overnight.

Initially, the warning was in place for central, eastern, and Highland areas, when first announced earlier this week, but now include parts of South and East Ayrshire, pretty much everything east and south of the A77.
