Pupils at Forehill Primary School in Ayr have released their very own Christmas song, with all profits going to Ayrshire Hospice.
With many traditional festive concerts, nativity plays and musical outings unable to go ahead this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the children decided the best way to help lift spirits was through song.
Principal Teacher Lee McDowall put pen to paper and came up with the heart-warming melody ‘Let Love In’ which reflects the true meaning of Christmas, and gives hope for the future.
Primary 7 pupils Craig and Ellie performed the song alongside fellow pupil Jackson who gave an outstanding performance on acoustic guitar.
Councillor William Grant, South Ayrshire Council’s portfolio holder for Children and Young People, said: “‘Let Love In’ is truly inspirational, and certainly tugs on the heart strings.
“The children and staff from Forehill Primary School have put a lot of time and effort in to this song, and I’m sure it will be a huge success and go on to raise plenty of funds for the Ayrshire Hospice.
“If you are able to, please help the school to support this fantastic local cause by purchasing the song online. Well done to everyone involved.”
The creation of ‘Let Love In’, along with its recording and distribution, has involved almost everyone at the school. There is even a must-see video which features all of the children ‘signing’ the song using Makaton sign language.
David Watson, Head Teacher at Forehill Primary School, said: “Hopefully our song can help put smiles back on faces, and raise some much needed funds for the Ayrshire Hospice. I would like to thank our star performers Craig, Ellie and Jackson, and all the children and staff for making this possible. A special mention goes to Lee McDowall.”
