South Ayrshire is now set to move out of Level 4 this week.
The First Minister Nicola Sturgeon confirmed South Ayrshire would drop down to Level 3 when she updated parliament this afternoon.
The area entered Level 4 of coronavirus restrictions alongside East Ayrshire last month, with the Scottish Government citing a higher prevalence of the virus.
The lockdown came with a series of tough measures including travel restrictions, a continued ban on household visits and the closure of gyms, hairdressers and libraries.
While business will be able to reopen their doors in Level 3, the selling of alcohol in bars and restaurants is prohibited, curfews are in place for hospitality and household gatherings are banned.
Neighbouring East Ayrshire will also move down to Level 3 while North Ayrshire will remain will remain at the same level.
