Two local students have made a contribution to the local community by naming the floors of new care home, Greenan Manor.
Students from Wellington School and Doonfoot Primary School were asked for ideas to name the care home’s floors.
Students were encouraged to choose something that would reflect the history and character of the local Ayrshire area.
Dunure and Arran View have been selected as the winning names, determined by 12-year-old Scott Miller of Wellington School and eight-year-old Lewis Donn of Doonfoot Primary School.
Along with their name taking pride of place in the new care home, the two lucky winners have each received a £150 Amazon voucher.
Carol-Anne Foote, commissioning and business development manager of Meallmore Ltd who ran the competition said: “Meallmore’s care homes across Scotland are at the centre of their local communities and Greenan Manor is no different. This competition was a great way to involve the youngest members of our new neighbourhood in the opening of our care home.
“We were delighted to see many great suggestions that reflected the locality of Greenan Manor.
“Congratulations to Scott and Lewis for making their mark in history in our new care home, and of course thank you to all who took part at both Wellington School and Doonfoot Primary School.”
Greenan Manor, located on Dunure Road, will offer quality, personalised care for 52 elderly people with general care needs including those with dementia and its related conditions.
Greenan Manor is due to open its doors to residents in January 2021.
