Garrocher Tree Farm in Ayr is no stranger to winning prizes but the hard-working team is again celebrating, having taken the top prize for the “Best Pine Christmas Tree 2020” at this year’s awards for the British Christmas Tree Growers Association” (BCTGA).
Garrocher Tree Farm’s Lodge Pole Pine was judged best in class at this year’s BCTGA wards in Yorkshire and announced live on BBC Radio 4.
Mike Craig, MD at Garrocher said: “I’m immensely proud of my team and the pride they take in bringing a range of the freshest and loveliest trees to homes and families across South West Scotland.
“It’s great to win a national prize but we also know that the best tree is always the one in your own home in the run-up to Christmas.”
Heather Parry of BCTGA said: “We were delighted by the number of entries, particularly as competitors couldn’t attend in person.
“The quality and the amazing scent of the trees on display was incredible; this is truly the Oscars for Christmas trees.”
Garrocher sells each year from the Livestock Marts at Ayr and Newton Stewart and has had plenty time to make arrangements for social distancing.
They are also increasing their opening times this year since demand is predicted to be higher than ever.
