A CHARITY has vowed that the winter coronavirus lockdown will not stop them from spreading Christmas cheer.

The Night Before Christmas Campaign are determined more than ever to complete their mission to ensure no child across Ayrshire goes without this year.

They have been collecting donations and filling their magical Christmas Eve boxes from their Narnia HQ in at Tsukure Hub in Ayr.

As South Ayrshire is plunged into the toughest lockdown faced since March with Level 4 restrictions closing all non-essential shops, the charity’s little helpers must adapt with some of those businesses drop off points.

But the charity is not letting the slight blip get in the way of their plans as they vow to support families who have been impacted directly by the coronavirus crisis.

Jodie McFarlane who set up the charity, told the Advertiser: “We will be fine, we’re just going to keep going. We’ve got so many referrals through for boxes, a lot of them from families who have been hit hard by the pandemic. We are going to make sure we help them.”

The charity is hoping they won’t be the only ones getting into the festive spirit and on December 1 have launched their campaign to have a Christmas Cheer day.

They are wanting people to don their best Christmas jumper and pledge a £1 to help raise more cash towards boxes.

Jodie said: “December 1 is Christmas cheer day. We want people to wear something Christmassy and pledge a pound. By doing that all the money will go towards the boxes.

“Even if people are just sitting at home, we want to spread Christmas cheer and get people into the festive spirit.

“It is hard time for everyone, so many businesses are affected by this too.

“We thought if we can start the first day of advent and get people feeling a bit more in the festive it will just cheer everyone up.”
