A PARTNERSHIP has formed between Ayr Community Fire Service and Galloway Mountain Rescue Team.
It aims to extend rescue response capabilities, in order to protect various communities throughout Ayrshire.
Galloway Mountain Rescue Team will house a top of the range 4x4 ambulance at Ayr Community Fire Station.
The volunteer-led organisation will have the benefit of a private parking bay and dedicated space within the station
This will allow rescue teams to have increased capability to respond to emergency incidents within the area as quickly as they possibly can.
Galloway Mountain Rescue Team is a charity run by volunteers who rely primarily on public support.
While the team is proficient in mountain rescue, they are also expertly trained to help people in difficulty across all terrains and weather conditions, making them perfectly suited to the unpredictable Ayrshire coast.
Local Senior Officer for East, North and South Ayrshire, Ian McMeekin, said: “Protecting the public
is at the heart of everything we do. This another example of the great partnerships between emergency services benefitting our communities.”
