FLY-TIPPERS have been snared in South Ayrshire with three fixed penalty notices over the past week.
The council confirmed they dealt with reports of careless people dumping goods across the region.
In one incident, a mattress was dumped near to Wellington Square.
South Ayrshire Council shared a picture to remind those of the damage fly-tipping can have on the environment with items often dumped in countryside spots.
A spokesperson for the council said: “Fly-tipping is a criminal offence – from a bin bag of household rubbish, to large quantities of tyres or construction waste.
“If a person is found guilty of the offence they can be issued with a fixed penalty notice of £200, or could potentially be sentenced to imprisonment and risk a fine of up to £40,000.”
