A MESSY spot across from the crumbling Station Hotel has been given a welcome makeover this week.
Council workers have cleared the grassy pitch, which was left neglected much like the hotel adjacent, to leave a stunning new patch with flowers.
The eyesore was raised by SNP Councillor Siobhian Brown last year, who asked the grounds maintenance team to sort out the overgrown grass and weeds.
She told the Advertiser how it was important to stop Ayr look even more depressing.
Cllr Brown said: ““With the Station Hotel in its current state and the neglect of the surrounding area of the old carpark, it made the entry into Ayr even more depressing.
“ Last year I had asked our grounds maintenance team if we could tidy up all the overgrowing weeds.
“The team have done an incredible amount of work over the year and have totally transformed the whole area and I can’t thank them enough for all their hard work and effort. It is very much welcomed.”
