AYR United's greatest servant has sadly died, the club have confirmed.
John 'Spud' Murphy made 459 appearances for the Honest Men.
The full-back was with the club from 1963 to 1978.
Murphy was then inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame in 2007.
Fans will remember an uncompromising defender who never shirked a challenge.
Today the Honest Men are mourning the loss of a club legend.
A spokesperon said: "We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of an Ayr United legend, John 'Spud' Murphy.
"His 459 appearances for the Honest Men between 1963 and 1978 is a club record. Our thoughts are with John’s family and friends."
