A FATHER and daughter were ordinated and a minister was joined by his son in the Kirk Session at a special ordination service in a Prestwick church.
Prestwick South Church held a “Day of Celebration on Sunday, March 15, the final day before the cancellation of all services of worship owing to the coronavirus.
A total of 11 Elders were presented with long service certificates to mark 30 years of service and upwards.
These were signed by the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.
The long service certificates went to: Jack McCormack (64 years) Alan Moir (43 years) Willie Irvine (41 years) Frank McQuade (37 years) Wilma Goodwin (33 years) Allan Kerr (51 years) Ann Green (33 years) John Park (32 years)
Jean Dunlop (33 years) Margaret Bingham (33 years) and Andy Mitchell (37 years).
Father and daughter Jack McCormack and Jean Dunlop have incredibly amassed 97 years of service between them.
Also four members of the congregation were ordained as new Elders: David Elliott, Diane Shaw, Rob Leitch, Mhairi McAlinden and Diane Shaw.
The Rev Kenneth Elliott joked that son David was the only member of the Kirk Session who could call the minister dad.
