A BIG-HEARTED Troon mother-of-two has been putting others first by launching a new support service to help the vulnerable and those left isolated as a result of the coronavirus.
Joanne Redford, a childminder and single parent who has two teenage daughters, had been approached by people seeking support.
She last week set up the Troon, Loans and Dundonald Support Group on Facebook and had ever since been inundated with offers of backing.
She also helps run support services across South Ayrshire and East and North Ayrshire.
Joanne said: “A few people in the area approached me, explaining the situation. I thought it would be a good idea.
“We don’t know exactly yet what the problems will be with the coronavirus but people are very interested in getting support. So far we have about 100 volunteers willing to help which is amazing.
“People are asked if they want help with picking up shopping, a friendly phone call, posting mail and urgent supplies.
“They can call or text and the team will do their best.
“For instance if someone couldn’t get toilet roll in Morrison’s then possibly it could be picked up in say Kilmarnock.”
Joanne is hugely encouraged with progress so far.
She added: “Huge thanks to all who have joined and supported this page.
“You are in turn supporting your local community and it is greatly appreciated.
“There has been an overwhelming amount of offers of help from you."
