TROON railway station is to be linked up with Loans through an innovative new walking and cycling link.
The work is anticipated to be phased over several years, subject to funding.
This will see the creation of a new shared walking and cycling link on Harling Drive between the train station and the junction with the A759 Dundonald Road.
A new link would run between the golf course and Marr playing fields, and then along North Drive to the junction with the A759 within Loans.
ARA is constructing the Harling Drive section of the route (grant awards from Sustrans, SPT and CWSS).
The next leg of construction would begin in the next financial year subject to funding. The design work has to date been fully funded by Sustrans through their Places for Everyone fund.
The Harling Drive works are underway and scheduled to be completed by the end of the financial year.
Subject to funding, the plan would then be to phase construction of the remainder over the next two financial years, completing the route by spring 2022.
