PRESTWICK airport does not appear to have introduced drop off charges for passengers despite Glasgow Airport beginning them yesterday.
The airport claim that their drop-off and pick-up areas will remain free in the meantime.
A spokesperson for Glasgow Prestwick, said: “We currently have a pick-up and drop-off service that allows customers to have five minutes’ free time within the parking area at the front of the terminal building.
“We are in the process of upgrading our car parks and this includes changes to the layout and upgrades to the barrier and booking systems.
"There will continue to be a free pick-up and drop-off option and we will be reviewing our pricing to ensure that we are competitive and in line with the wider market.”
Motorists will now be charged £2 for dropping off those who are flying from Glasgow Airport.
The move, which came into force at 3am on Thursday, April 27, is being introduced alongside a new combined drop-off and pick-up zone to improve the flow of traffic around the airport.
A spokesperson for Glasgow Airport said: "A new combined quick pick-up/drop-off area will be introduced at the airport on the ground floor opposite the main terminal.
"All drivers dropping passengers off or picking them up will need to use the new area and there will be a new road layout to access it."
More information will follow in next weeks paper addition.
